BILLING:
We accept all patients in the following categories: Self pay, traditional indemnity insurance, Medicare, Medicaid, Tricare and Workman's Compensation. We accept most all managed care PPO and POS plans and work with our billing department to minimize out of network costs.
As with all other medical specialties, our ability to provide service is sometimes limited by the
terms of patients' health insurance plans.
Even though some larger HMO's contract with national commercial laboratories for laboratory services, it may be possible for us to provide surgical
pathology services. As with PPO and PSO patients we can work to minimize out of network costs. Please contact our physician account manager with any questions regarding insurance eligibility at (321) 953-4804 or (888) 441-0261.
PATIENT BILLING: If your patients are not covered by a health plan, they will receive an itemized bill from Space Coast Pathologists, P.A. within two weeks from the date of service. Patients are re-billed on a 28-day cycle.
Necessary information for patient billing:
- Patient's name.
- Patient's date of birth.
- Telephone number with area code.
- Complete current address with zip code.
- Patient relationship to subscriber.
- Responsible party name if patient is under 18 years of age.
- Patient's social security number.
- All policy numbers and group numbers.
- Diagnosis.
- Medicare number (nine-digit and one letter), when applicable.
THIRD PARTY (INSURANCES): Space Coast Pathologists, P.A. is certified by Medicare, Medicaid and Blue Shield to perform the laboratory tests listed in our Fee Schedule. We will bill any combination of these carriers at no additional charge to your patients as long as we receive adequate billing information with each request.
Generally, patients will not receive a bill from Space Coast Pathologists, P.A. until the insurance companies have responded
or no payments have been made during the first 60 days. Patients will be billed after 60 days if
there is no response from insurance.
BLUE CROSS/BLUE SHIELD: Space Coast Pathologists, P.A. is currently a participating member with Blue Shield and as a participating member, patients are only responsible for deductibles, co-pays and non-covered test.
MEDICAID: Space Coast Pathologists, P.A. is currently a Florida participating provider for Medicaid and Medpass. Patients with Medicaid will be billed only for tests not covered by Medicaid or if no payment or rejection has been received during the first 60 days from billing.
MEDICARE: Patients with Medicare will be billed only for deductibles, co pays or for non-covered test. Patient billing will begin after we have received notice from Medicare.
Advanced Beneficiary Notice: This notice should be provided to a patient when it is deemed that Medicare will not likely pay for yearly routine Pap Testing services.
COMMERCIAL INSURANCES: Space Coast Pathologists, P.A. will bill primary insurance carriers directly for all covered services. Patients will be billed for policy deductibles, co-pays and non-covered tests.
